Of the many options you have when you visit Florida, Jensen Beach is one of the more underrated choices that has become a more popular destination for tourists over the last few years. Located North of West Palm Beach on Florida’s eastern coast, Jensen Beach is home to an incredible waterfront with plenty of fun activities for the entire family. Jensen Beach is called the “Pineapple Capital of the World”, and you’ll have to visit to see why, although you could probably guess the reason. But what you probably didn’t know about Jensen Beach is that it holds an annual pineapple festival, which we will discuss in more detail later on in this post!
Mulligan’s Beach House is certainly another family-friendly activity, being one of the top waterfront restaurants in the region. We combine a kid friendly restaurant with a unique beach restaurant theme. Serving high-quality seafood (and much more) at affordable prices, this is one Jensen Beach restaurant you don’t want to miss.
Today’s blog post is going to look past that primary option (we may be biased). We will look at other fun things to do in Jensen Beach whether you are a tourist looking for a good time or are a local who is looking to rediscover their own community. You are probably missing out on a good time, so go ahead and read on if you are interested in some free advice to have some fun!
The Sea Turtle Beach!
Okay, if you are a local, you are probably already familiar with this one, and for good reason. First of all, it is a free day in the sun with the water right there, so it’s tough to go wrong with an inexpensive option like that, especially if you are trying to have a vacation without eating away too much into your savings.
The Sea Turtle Beach is popular activity for people into swimming, walking, playing beach games, or simply relaxing, pretty much anyone and everyone is guaranteed to have a good time when the weather is nice. And guess what? The weather is generally wonderful here in Jensen Beach. Great for the whole family, this is an activity worth considering. As one reviewer noted, “”Fun with the family. This is the best beach for families who appreciate lots of activities. The vast stretch, 1,500 feet long, has lifeguards, extensive food concessions, volleyball, and picnic tables. The park manages to remain in a nicely maintained natural state despite its popularity.” A natural vibe is tough to find in such a popular region, and that makes the Sea Turtle Beach worth consideration for an affordable family day in the sun.
Based right on the waterfront, Flatlined Charters with Captain George Gozdz is simply one of the best times you will have in Jensen Beach, should you choose to go. After all, Captain Gozdz has his own television show, “Reel Time Florida Sportsman”. If you are a resident in this area then you probably already know that the captain is a legendary fisherman in these parts. George is a native Floridian and loves to have fun while out on the water. If you are a serious fisherman or an aspiring one, Captain Gozdz is sure to bring you the fishing experience of a lifetime at Flatlined Charters. This is a Jensen Beach can’t miss.
Clay Habit Studio and Supply
If you are interested in the arts and perhaps getting in touch with the artist within yourself during your vacation, or in general it should be said, then Clay Habit Studio and Supply is a fantastic resource for clay related products and support. They have the pottery supplies, clay bodies, chemicals, and even offer kiln repair services to the tri-county area. But best of all, they offer classes as well. And if you are a local, Clay Habit Studio and Supply will help you set a pottery club in your own community as well!
Indian Riverside Park
Indian River Lagoon is home to one of Jensen Beach’s hidden gems. A great time for the whole family, get ready to experience a butterfly garden, an interactive play water fountain, a fishing pier, four picnic pavilions, and the Frances Langford Center (which happens to be available for more formal events, just FYI). Pets on leashes are allowed at the Indian Riverside Park, and you can enjoy fly fishing as well as light tackle fishing. Indian Riverside Park is also a great option for those looking for Jensen Beach activities that are accessible for people with disabilities. This location is ADA Compliant and is wheelchair friendly.
The Children’s Museum Of The Treasure Coast
Speaking of Indian Riverside Park, it is home to a world of exploration and discovery for children, which is also called the Children’s Museum of the Treasure Coast. The museum opened in 2008 with a unique idea. Children are able to role play shopping for groceries at “Our Town Market”, one of our exhibits. They can even act out being cashiers at this exhibit. This is just one of the many things to do at the Children’s Museum of the Treasure Coast (they have a toddler-specific exhibit as well).
As one happy parent put it, “Best Children’s Museum! Geared to younger children-took our 2 yr.old grandson here and he loved it! His favorite exhibits were the Town Market (he could push and fill a shopping cart) and the Car Care Center (he could look in the engine and change the tire). Also great- the train display, the full size Spanish galleon (pirate ship), the outdoor spaces- overall, an excellent museum!” As this kind reviewer has confirmed, kids flat-out love this museum, even the young ones!
The Jensen Beach Pineapple Festival
Now we come to it; the holy grail of Jensen Beach activities (we are humbly excluding our very own tropical restaurant from this hypothetical competition). The Jensen Beach Pineapple Festival started in 1988 with the Jensen Beach Centennial Celebration, highlighted by a concert by Marie Osmond herself.
One of the only street festivals you will find throughout South Florida, the 2017 iteration will boast performers the likes of Drake White and The Big Fire, Smash Mouth, Lincoln Brewster, and local bands as well! Be sure you don’t miss the authentic Bahamian Market from Eleuthera which hosts arts, crafts, island music, and a wild Junkanoo parade the whole family can enjoy. This year, the festival will be on the weekend of November 11-13. Stop by Mulligan’s for a waterfront restaurant experience so you can comfortably enjoy all the waterfront sites and sounds while you sip on one of our famous cocktails!
Mulligan’s Beach House
Let’s talk about Mulligan’s in more detail, because while there are many awesome adventures you can have in this area, when it comes to Jensen Beach restaurants, there is really only one choice which blends family fun with a fantastic waterfront experience.
But we go beyond seafood and being kid-friendly. We have fantastic happy hour deals with delicious appetizers and beverages. If you want to watch the game on a Saturday afternoon, we’ve got you covered there too. We are native Floridians who love to entertain and show people a good time. With fantastic seafood options an incredible variety of menu items that go beyond the realm of seafood, we love having a blast with our customers. Come stop by Jensen Beach’s best beach restaurant the next time you are in town!
